Trip to Wisconsin

Here's a little slide show- check it out. The best gift anyone received- a squirrel shocking birdfeeder handcrafted for my Mom by my Uncle Mark. She HATES that the squirrels eat her bird seed, I'm not sure so wants to shock them to death either! He assured us it's a mild shock and won't kill them just scare them, awesome! i wish I had a picture of this thing, it's actually really beautiful to look at but deadly. Squirrels, watch out!

The incredible leaning snowman...

This is one of the highlights to our trip in Wisconsin for Christmas. Scott built his first snowman! Yes, and the quote of the whole experience was when he realized that people were rolling snowballs and the snow was sticking... "that really works? I thought that only happened in cartoons!" priceless! I guess being from San Diego means you don't often have freshly fallen snow to roll, very funny. Well, as the week went on the snowman began to lean, backwards. It was eventually bent to be about 6 inches from the ground but actually was still intact and this was one BIG snowman, at least as tall as Scott. It was pretty amazing actually. It didn't fall down until the day the kids and I left, it lasted at least a week and a half and it finally fell because it was rained on and melted completely.

Merry Christmas!

And what a morning it was! After opening presents from 7am to 1pm... we stopped to play quite a bit... we were finally through! Micah most enjoyed his pirate ship and Leapster, ok and the transformers and other toys but not so much the books and clothes. Lauren had a great morning opening things... she'd open anything she could get her hands on! For our little girl, new baby dolls and a play kitchen, party clothes and other fun things. What a morning. Oh, and the Nerf guns and remote control helicopter were lots of fun all day for the boys in our family. Great job Santa!

Twas the night before Christmas...

Here are a few pictures of us on Christmas Eve ANXIOUSLY awaiting Christmas morning! I can honestly say it was the most fun Christmas morning... two excited kids is so much fun! We took a few pictures, read a couple of Christmas storys, a Christmas movie and then it was off to bed for a good nights sleep before the pandemonium!

Ice Skating

Having our first Christmas at home alone was fun but we had to think of some things to do... we spent Christmas Eve Day ice skating outside (even in CA) and had some yummy kettle corn for a snack. Then we enjoyed a fun lunch at the Claim Jumper... what a treat! Here are a couple of shots of the kids at the ice skating rink and one pretty fun video clip:

Sugar, sugar!

Here are a couple pictures of our Christmas baking experiences. We made a gingerbread house but we cheated- those of you that are Costco shoppers will recognize it looking a lot like your own this holiday season.... Micah frosting cookies and Lauren daintily eating sprinkles with one finger and a whole lot of caramel apples- these beauties were for Christmas gifts. They were yummy but LOTS of work... at least they turned out nice and were a big hit.

St. Nick's Day

So, Micah is pretty confused... He knows that St. Nick is a "nickname" for Santa so since St. Nick came on Dec. 5th her sort of thinks that because he got stuff in his stocking that was it... Another concept we're having a problem correcting with him is that he believes there has to be snow for Christmas. Now, in CA, that's just not going to happen so we've tried explaining this a thousand times but it's not taking hold... I guess the Christmas movies are getting to him, he just can't understand that not everywhere has to have snow for Christmas. Chances are he'll be distracted by all the presents under the tree and not thing about it but I think that WHY may be becoming his favorite word... and these experiences to his Santa costume theories.... TROUBLE! Anyways here are a couple pictures from St. Nick's morning.
